India versus China

I am a great fan of India; you already may have noticed that from previous posts. I strongly believe that India’s economic and social model makes much more sense than China’s, especially for the long term.

For the first time I read an article comparing both countries and making some points I almost totally agree. Summarising, the points are:

  1. India is a democracy.
  2. India has good relationships with the USA (and I would say with Europe and other Asian countries as well, and with many other Commonwealth countries such as South-Africa and Australia)
  3. India has few state-owned companies.
  4. India has good capital markets.
  5. India’s people are young.
  6. India’s GDP does not depend heavily in Foreign Direct Investments.
